Coming Soon: The Backorder Bonus*

Soon, I will be unveiling a new feature-series on the website. The Backorder and The Backorder Bonus*. The Backorder is just going to be a very simple segment where I occasionally chime and let you know what game I’ve been playing lately. Most of these games are from a backlog of games that I should have played a long time ago.

These will not be reviews or anything too detailed, but I will give a little bit of feedback and a quick opinion on the game itself.

*As a part of some these Backorder articles, I will sometimes include the Backorder Bonus. The more times I can offer this, I will. The intention of the Backorder Bonus is very much lik a preorder bonus for most new video games today. I intend to give codes for DLC, free copies of games, etc… whatever I can do, that’s what I’ll do! The rules for claiming these will be explained by the post itself, but I have every intention of keeping the first few very simple, to get more people participating!

I won’t be able to offer Backorder Bonuses every time, but I’ll be trying to do offer as many as possible!

Bored? Wanna Win A Game? Talk to me!

Everyone is in media lockdown mode, preparing for E3. No major announcements coming from the big companies, and the few things happening aren’t things that are capturing my interests. I don’t know why, just seems like a lot of “we knew it was coming” – even the big things like the Mythic Map Pack and such. I browse the usual sites, and the best I can come up with is reporting that the Wii’s Motion Plus add on will be available June 8th, for a mere $20 – or downright free with Wii Sports Resort.

With spring time boredom setting in, I have decided do something sweepingly fun. I want to build a community. Not just have a website, really give people a home. I have been a bit of a vagabond over the years, in different forum. And for a time, in each one, I really got the feeling like I was at home, and that these people were my friends. Some groups of people just fit well together. I’m hoping to find another group of those people – and bring them here. So let’s talk about games, movies, music, just go ahead and introduce yourself – kick off your shoes and do what makes you feel comfortable.

I thought you said I could win stuff? Oh you can. Register with WinBreak, post in the forum, and start making this place your own. See what kind of community this becomes, join the fun. Help give us our own identity – be the shapers and molders.

I still don’t have quite the pull that the bigger guys do, so when I do contests, they come right out of my pocket. So here’s what I am putting up for grabs: 3 “2nd place” winners will receive Xbox Live Arcade games (your choice of $5 or $10 title from the new Amazon Digital Marketplace). A grand prize winner will be selected and offered a prize valued at $20 – whether you want Wii Points, Microsoft Points, Multiple Arcade games, or PSN Store Credit.

How I will choose winners / Rules: Post in the forum. Each forum post containing substance you make will count toward your total number of entries in a random drawing. “Substance” will be judged by Garrett “NuAngel” Culver; obviously abusive entries (example: “I agree” being the entire contents of the post) and spam posts will be discredited as entries, and repeat offenders will be disqualified. No warnings must be given to those disqualified. This contest will end 11:59 PM EST July 31st 2009. Contest is open to residents of the 50 United States, D.C., and Canada (if prize codes have errors, something will be worked out). The process is ongoing. Each “2nd place” winner will be selected at random intervals between today, April 14th 2009 and 11:59 PM EST July 31st, 2009. The Grand Prize winner will be announced August 1st, 2009. WinBreak.com & Garrett “NuAngel” Culver reserve the right to cease the contest at any time. Winners of 2nd place prizes are also counted in the “Grand Prize” drawing, but are eliminated from remaining 2nd prize drawings. All winners will be announced on main page of WinBreak.com. If you have any problems with the registration process or forum, please contact us.

New WinBreak.com features, new forums!

In an attempt to make your life easier, entice you to visit this site, and in an all around attempt to satisfy the masses, I have made several changes to the site over the last week, though many of them may not be noticable just yet.

First: the site is now mobile-web friendly! As my recent exploits with my own mobile phone grow, so does my conciousness of mobile-device users. You don’t have to go to a special “NuAngel.net/xyz” or “mobi.WinBreak.com” or anything fancy – just load up WinBreak.com on your phone, PDA, or even PlayStation Portable, and keep up on the latest information.

Next: I have expanded your user profiles to allow a little more customization. You should now find it easier to describe yourself, promote your interests, and even show off a little bit!

Finally: NEW forums! The last ones were never very busy, but they were very buggy. So I found it was a good idea to try and simplify a few things. While it still needs some work, it’s far less buggy and is driven off of the same database as the main website. If you’re registered and can leave comments on the blog posts, you’re registered for the forums! So why not just register, login, and visit the forums!

Help us make 2009 YOUR year!

It’s a new year, and we’re still doing a lot of planning around here at WinBreak central command. And while I may not have an unlimited budget or resources, I am quite interesting in learning the kinds of things people love to win! Not only that, but we want to help build the site around you. Everyone should want to be featured on Better Know a Gamer, but even if you’re a little too shy, why not have a say in the future of our fair little web property?

So why not answer a question or two over the next few days? We’ll start with these…

Thanks! We’ll keep up a few questions, and you’ll help us answer them and develop the kind of site YOU want to be a part of! The poll is open until January 18th, 2009, 6:00 PM EST.
