Better Know a Gamer: Issue #24: borocouncilman

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This time we’re featuring a name that could ring a bell from one of Trixie360’s previous community spotlights, borocouncilman!

Nu: What’s your Gamertag, and what’s the story behind it?
borocouncilman. I am an elected official in Doylestown Borough. Yes, I am actually a borough councilman and currently serve as the President of the Council. I was elected in 2005, same year the 360 launched. I am up for re-election this year so I’ve got a busy year ahead.

Nu: Good luck on that front! 21 Million members of Xbox Live are rooting for you! Where are you from?
Doylestown, PA which is the county seat of Bucks County. It’s about an hour outside of Philadelphia.

Nu: I lived in York for the last year! We should’ve met up in Lancaster or something. Maybe next time. How old are you, and what do you do (school, job, family, hobbies)?
37 years old. Married with 3 kids. I have several software businesses that I am involved with at the moment. I’d characterize myself as a serial entrepreneur. My hobbies include Motorcycles and Radio Controlled contraptions that fly. Of course, my web site http://1337pwn.com which offers free XBOX Live apps for the iPhone and Android/G1.

Nu: And why aren’t there any Windows Mobile apps on there yet? I have been watching your site like a hawk, hoping… waiting. So, how long have you been gaming in general?
I have been playing video games for more than 30 years. As a kid, I spent time in Arcades and behind my computer. I feel like I’ve played something on every platform released during that time.

Nu: How long have you been a 360 owner?
I bought mine a few weeks after the launch using one of those 360 locator sites. Didn’t pay a penny over retail and had it in time for Christmas.

Nu: What was one of your favorite Xbox / Xbox Live moments?
While playing Halo 3 on coop, a warthog was dropped onto a friend and killed him. It was a “you had to be there” kind of moment and funny as heck.

Nu: Which Xbox 360 Achievement are you most proud of?
The Crackdown achievement where you find the agility orbs took a lot of work and dedication.

Nu: I had nightmares about hearing those orbs until I found them all! Are you currently working toward any achievements?
I fully intend to complete all of the Geometry Wars 2 achievements. I’m close.

Nu: What game(s) are you playing the most now?
I have been a Geometry Wars 2 addict, because I can go in and out quickly. Plus, I can play it with the kids around. There’s also my rediscovery of PacMan Championship Edition — superlative classic experience.

Nu: What’s playing now (what music do you listen to when away from your Xbox or when listening to music ON your Xbox)?
Radiohead and Hybrid are the two getting the most playlist action at the moment.

Nu: Excellent, excellent choices. Do you try to stick with one Gamerpic, or change it frequently?
I have been changing it more with the arrival of the avatars. Maybe, it’s more fun now.

Nu: What is your current favorite Xbox related website to visit?
I frequent Joystiq, XBOX360Fanboy, and a cast of others.

Nu: What game are you looking most forward to in 2009?
Killzone 2. I know, it’s a PS3 game. Is that wrong? Halo ODST will probably be great, but Killzone 2 looks “fresher”. I’m an equal opportunity gamer.

Nu: Killzone 2 does look good. I try to be open to more general video game news, but I’ve sold all but 2 of my PS3 games, and my Wii isn’t even hooked up. I’m a 360 addict, what can I say? Do you have an all time favorite game, for any console or the PC?
Tough one, but I’m going to have to stick with Racing Destruction Set on the Commodore 64.

Nu: Holy crap I had forgotten about that game! Now I need to tear apart my attic, thanks! Do you have any gaming buddies you frequently play with / want to make almost as famous as you?
I frequently play online with MonstroCromo, my 30 something “little brother.” When he gets the kids to bed, we get our game on.

Nu: Any parting words for the droves of readers?
As much as I enjoy video games, it’s good to spend some time out in the real world away from the machine. Time flies by and you don’t want to miss out on life. Have fun!
Nu: The serial entrepreneur has not missed out on life, I would say! We should all take a page from him and keep striving for… well, anything! Clearly, he’s not afraid to go out and try something new!
