UPDATE: Weird ODST Content BACK on the Marketplace!

The picture above was discovered months ago by the folks at Joystiq. These thigns were wiped from the Marketplace a long while ago. But I figured, with the game launching

soon, they might just reappear. And sure enough, yesterday, they did.

Everyone paying attention to ODST knows that Sgt. Johnson will be available to players in Firefight Mode as a bonus download for preordering. Haven’t preordered the game? Want Sgt. Johnson? Rich? Go ahead, try and download him! “Something Special” – when plugged in to everyone’s favorite search engine, reveals that the “Something Special” DLC is actually none other than Sgt. Johnson – now for the remarkably low price of 99999 . “EN Dolphin Data” has made a triumphant return to the Marketplace, as well, though attempts to download it fail repeatedly. This one is still a mystery.

It should be noted that these items do not show up with the rest of the game’s Marketplace Content.

UPDATE 1: Something popped in to my head today. Will still can’t verify exactly what “EN Dolphin Data” was – but in the recent Bungie Day ’09 Podcast, someone (I don’t recall who) had mentioned that there may be another piece of DLC. Well, nobody specifically mentioned DLC, but they mentioned that there may be a use for your Halo PC “yellow sticker” CD-Keys. I believe he was meaning those keys for the Halo 2 “Games for Windows Live” game, and not just “Halo CE” keys from a decade ago. But the game’s “CD-Key” is, infact, 5 sets of 5 characters (a “5-by-5” if you will)… the same as the codes for the Xbox Live Marketplace. It’s very likely that, whatever this Dolphin Content is, might be unlocked by Halo 2’s CDKey. But what will it be? This 4MB file of “EN Dolphin Data” could be it, but who knows exactly WHAT it is? Perhaps I’ll give that a shot? Looks like it’s still wait and see

Exclusive: Halo 3 ODST Special Edition Pictures!

WBX: WinBreak Exclusive
Low-Res images found their way into my hands recently of the Halo 3 ODST “Special Edition” package. What makes it special? You get a controller, similar to the one that was released with the Halo 3 special edition Xbox 360 console. Two weeks ago, Kotaku released a full sized image of the controller. We are pleased to be the first to bring you the packaging shots of this new special edition game/controller combo.

tagged exlcusive because I have yet to see the angled/back of the case on other sites, perhaps they do exist, but I haven’t seen’em! I’m just hoping for some higher res shots, I want to read the back of that package!

WBX: Halo’s "CALL TO ACTION" on Windows and Xbox?

Update 1.5: (see bottom of post)…
WBX: WinBreak Exclusive
I have got some “BIG” articles coming your way. Not necessarily the most exciting stuff, but lots of little goodies for you to take a gander at!

But before all of that comes to pass, take a look at that picture above. I have multiple pictures, all different shapes and sizes (“Tower” type pictures that webmasters can put in their side bars, banners for websites, along with these normal “block” type images). I have several that show “Games for Windows Live” branding, Xbox 360 Live branding, and this little beauty, which is co-branded. What in the world could be coming to the Halo Universe that includes a “call to action” on both the Windows and Xbox platforms? I haven’t heard anything of Halo Wars or Halo 3 ODST coming to Windows, nor any promotional heads up about Halo 3 being available on Windows. This logo, simply showing “Halo” could boil down to anything. So what do you think is coming our way? Register, then leave comments, or discuss it in the forum!

UPDATE 1: Well, it must be that people think I made this story up, because after 5 hours, not so much as a peep. I am an Xbox MVP under NDA, but these images all came from a Marketing source, with the intent to be used as advertising, but I still have no idea for what. Here are links to all of the original files (and there are many!):

UPDATED AGAIN (1.5): My damn webhost is having problems with PSD files. I think I need to modify my .htaccess file. Another time. For now, here is a ZIP file containing all 25 of the PSD files (I named it myself, do not bother scouring the internet for the zip file). I will leave the links below, for now, and hopefully be able to get them fixed in the near future.

Halo Wars ViDoc, Mythic Screens, and more!

Last night, TeamXbox broke an interesting story I had heard nothng about. A Swedish online retailer had made mention of a “best of Halo” Xbox 360 system bundle. It would include Halo 3, Halo Wars, a 60GB Xbox 360 “Pro.” As of yet, I can’t find any official documentation confirming this.

Next up, some screenshots. Just three of them, all from the upcoming Mythic Map pack. I want to take a minute to explain where they were: on a closed Microsoft “press” website, under the category of Halo 3: ODST. It’s sounding more and more like the map pack will ship on disk with ODST. Two of them look familiar, though the one for “Sandbox” is not one that I, personally, have seen before. Click on each for a ‘full size view.’ (~12MB TIFF’s).

Finally, I just wanted to remind everyone of a very overlooked Halo Wars ViDoc #1: “Halo Times Ten: Halo Wars.” This is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, or you can download it to your PC (almost exclusively, it’s hard to find!) from our site.

Halo 3 Recon Renamed: Halo 3: ODST

Personally, I have been anticipating this name change. The upcoming game will now be titled Halo 3: ODST. This, according to today’s press release from Microsoft. It’s a short one, so I’ll post the entire contents below.

The Halo project announced at Tokyo Game Show, “Halo 3: Recon”, has gone through a name change. This upcoming chapter in the “Halo” saga will be named “Halo 3: ODST”. We are incredibly excited to tell a thrilling new story from the Halo universe and bring the perspective of new characters to the forefront of the Human-Covenant struggle. “Halo 3: ODST’s” tale will focus on the legendary ODSTs or “Orbital Drop Shock Troopers” as they drop into the ruined city of New Mombasa, looking for clues behind the Covenant’s catastrophic attack on the city. We’ll be sharing more about “Halo 3: ODST” and the ODST characters in the near future – stay tuned for more information!
